By now, I hope that you have all received your August/September'10 issue of Canadian Woodworking & Home Improvement Magazine. Rob (our new editor) is settling into his position nicely, and has started to make some noteworthy additions to the publication. He has started out with adding a Community Section, in which he will be highlighting various clubs, groups, schools, and individuals who are making contributions to our woodworking community. With our next issue he will be starting an on-going feature called 'Finer Details', in which he will show the works of some accomplished Canadian woodworkers, and detail the techniques they use which sets them apart. We're sure you are going to enjoy, and benefit, from both of these new sections.
Enjoy!

BESSEY lets loose flood of clamp improvements, new series
BESSEY has taken the best features of its original all-steel 660, 1200 and 1800 Series bar clamps and made them even better with three key features: a rail profile that has been optimized to enhance overall force by five per cent; a modified height to width ratio of the rail to enhance clamping stability; and, greater rigidity due to the enhanced rail profile that provides 20 per cent more clamping force per spindle turn.
Meanwhile, BESSEY has launched the classiX line of globally sourced products, featuring clamping lengths from 6" to 24" and clamping force options from 550 lbs to 2660. In addition to these new clamps and improvements to existing clamps, BESSY has introduced the DKX DuoKlamp Extender. The DKX is an accessory for the Bessey DuoKlamp. The jaws of the DuoKlamp fit over a pair of jaw faces on the DKX unit and, in effect, extend the reach of even a 6" clamp to more than five feet while still achieving 260 lbs of clamping force.

Rockler's Lathe Tool Holder Puts Everything At Your Fingertips
Whether hollowing out a bowl at the faceplate or shaping spindles along the length of the bed, the new Lathe Tool Holder from Rockler Woodworking and Hardware gives turners on-the-spot access to a dozen tools and more. Rather than put tools on the wall, the Rockler Tool Holder puts tools directly on deck only inches away, where the swivelling arm allows the user to swing the tools out of the away for better access, or swing them in close for rapid tool changes. Unlike wall-mounted designs, the adjustable 12" turntable attaches directly to any point along the lathe bed to put up to 12 tools exactly where you like. And what's more, it features a flat central area for turning essentials like calipers, sandpaper strips and finishing supplies. If the lathe needs to be moved for any reason, the tools come along, all for $29.99.
