I’ve just finished the wood show circuit for the year, and will now have a few weeks to transcribe all of the notes (and cryptic messages) that I scribbled on the backs of business cards and napkins. It was fun getting out and seeing all of you at the shows.

If I don’t happen to follow-up on something that we may have discussed at a show, please feel free to give me a call. It’s not that I’ve forgotten, or lost your note. It’s just that some of these messages would take the Rosetta Stone to decipher.

It was also fun to see all of the photos of what everyone is working on (see the fretted bass guitar in the Readers Gallery below.) If just some of the many woodworkers that promised to send in photos of their work do, we’re going to have a lot of interesting and inspiring projects to show you in future magazines and eNewsletters.

In this eNewsletter, we feature a link to an interesting on-line program that shows what a room in your house would look like if it were painted a different colour. It is a helpful on-line tool. Check it out and you can see exactly what your newly painted room will look like.

This eNewsletter also features new tools from Akeda, Bosch, Lee Valley, and Lamello.

Enjoy!

Paul

AKEDA Announces A New 24” Blanket Chest Jig™

Buy online

Since its inception in 2001 the Akeda DC16 has been consistently rated as one of the best dovetail jigs on the market.

AKEDA’s new Model BC24 is a 24” version of Model DC16, and so shares all of its accessories. It features the same patented system of guide fingers that engage slots in a guide rail, that made the DC16 so successful. It is the only variable pitch dovetail jig where layouts can be repeated with absolute accuracy – at both ends of the jig, or on a second jig, - a great asset when forming asymmetrical layouts. The guide fingers can be installed anywhere on the guide rail in 1/8” increments, then replaced in precisely the same position at any time in the future. $439.99;  $499.99 with the dust collector and a 7 piece bit set.

KNOT-TEC™ Knot Repair System

Click for information or call
704-334-2425

Power Adhesives Ltd. has introduced an advanced wood repair system that lets you use an entire board rather than cut out a knot or defect. This eliminates waste, increases yield and maximizes use of the raw material.

The Powder Adhesives system combines the company’s TEC™ 250 hot melt adhesive applicator and TECBOND™ 7718/12 polyamide hot melt glue sticks to create a fast, easy-to-use system. Knots and surface defects are repaired in seconds. Application is quick and easy with no training required. To use, simply fill the knot or defect with the molten adhesive and allow it to dry. Any surplus glue is then easily removed with a chisel or a cutting tool. After removal, the wood surface can be treated or painted as normal.
