Welcome to the first issue of our eNewsletter for 2008.

Among the many product listings this month is the new CMT Industrial Entry and Passage Door Set, which we first told you about in our August eNewsletter.

This versatile router bit set is finally available, and we expect that it will be of widespread interest among home hobbyist woodworkers.

If you are involved in the retail side of woodworking there is a great opportunity for you to distribute a new line of wood finishing and wall covering products from Quebec based Waxine.

We're also pleased to let you know that we'll be expanding coverage of new wood working products in our product reviews.

Reader response has been enthusiastic, and we're looking forward to bringing a lot more in-depth reviews.

Enjoy!

Paul

The new industrial CMT Entry and Passage Door Set (# 800.527.11) offers production quality and versatility of function lacking in existing DIY entry door sets.

In order to produce an entry or passage door (1 3/8" or 1 3/4" thick), one cutter is used to cut the long grain profile on all of the parts. A second cutter is used to cope the ends of the rails to match the long grain cut. Because entry and passage doors demand a large tenon for a lifetime of strength, CMT includes a third bit in the set that is specifically designed for cutting tenons. No other door kit includes such a bit! To cut the mortise in the door stiles, a bench top mortise machine, drill press or a plunge router with the CMT #191.507.11 up cut solid carbide spiral bit can be utilized. $299.

Steel City Tool Works Delivers First Granite Top Cabinet Saw

The National Support Element of Roto 3-07 for the ‘Van Doos’ and presently serving in Afghanistan. This is Mike’s attachment from Valcartier PQ, taken while in training at Wainright AB, May 2007.

Mike with the Steel City Team

Mike with his new SCTW jacket and SCTW cabinet saw

When Mike Lesperance read Canadian Woodworking’s coverage on Steel City Tool’s granite-topped cabinet saw, he knew that was the machine he wanted when he was done his tours of duty in Afghanistan.

Lesperance’s career is the navy, and he is signed up for another tour, but in between tours he was scheduled for a home visit to Ottawa.

Knowing when he was going to be in Ottawa, Mike contacted the Ottawa Woodshow promoters to confirm that Steel City would be at their show, and, if they were to be there, would they have the granite-topped cabinet saw there to see first hand.

It turned out that Mike attended the show, met the guys from Steel City, and loved their new line of machines. As a result, Mike has ordered, and will receive, the very first granite-topped cabinet saw available in Canada.

As a special 'thank-you' to Mike, for his commitment and effort on our behalf in Afghanistan, Jim McEntee (VP/Canada) presented Mike with a Steel City Tool jacket.
