In our February 2010 eNewsletter, we announced our ever-growing 'Woodworking Forum' membership had grown to a whopping 5,000 (active members). Well, I met with Bill MacDonald (our forum administrator) just the other day, and found that our forum membership is now at 6,944 - making our forum by far the most popular woodworking forum in Canada! A very special THANKS to Bill and Mike Harris, and their team of moderators (Kerry Cox, Ryan Wettlaufer, Lisa Chimerika, Mike Graham, and Ryan Shervill) for doing such an outstanding job. The forum's success is a direct result of their constant attention and effort. Together they have made the Canadian Woodworking forum a welcoming, informative, and enjoyable experience for woodworkers from across Canada and around the world.
If you aren't already a forum member, be sure to drop by and see why so many woodworkers consider the Canadian Woodworking forum their resource of choice. If you are already a member, then I'd also like to thank you for being a part of our forum, because the true value and benefit of any forum is the contributions of it's members.
Enjoy!

Forrest expands signature line of blades
Forrest Manufacturing has added a new blade to its 90-tooth Signature Line Chop Master series of quality saw blades: a 12" diameter with a 5/8" center hole for use on any 12" sliding compound miter saw, chop saw, or radial arm saw. All Forrest’s Signature Line Chop Master blades have 90 teeth, a 13 per cent increase over the company’s original Chop Masters. In addition, the complementary face angles of the teeth have been redesigned to create the best possible precision trim blades for chop saws, sliding compound miters, and radial arm saws. These newly angled carbide points create less cutting pressure and make it easier for the saw blade to penetrate wood and composites. As a result, they run cool and cut smoothly at any angle without bottom splintering, side scoring, or vibration. These blades also feature a smaller gullet to provide a quieter cut.

Final Cut finally available for the circular saw
The new 7-1/4" Final Cut Saw Blade turns a circular saw into a cutting and sanding tool, and is perfect for woodworkers, carpenters, contractors and the serious do-it-yourselfer who want to save time by not having to sand the work piece after cutting.
The Final Cut Saw Blade features sanding discs on each side of the blade that allow it to cut and sand the work piece at the same time. This reduces kick back and eliminates binding and heat build up for longer blade life.
The abrasive disc is actually wider than the blade kerf, therefore the stock is cut by the blade and sanded by the disc. Thus, each cut produces a fine, double-sided finish that eliminates the need for sanding.
Designed for cross cuts and rips on soft and hard materials, the Final Cut Saw Blade produces precision cut joints and fine finished edges every time. The user can even make minor length adjustments by simply sliding the work piece towards the rotating blade, using it just like a disc sander.

Eagle Craftsman carves bird with local woo
Wes Seeley began woodcarving as a child on Quadra Island, carving sailboats and sailing them on the local river. As an adult, he became a logger on the north end of Vancouver Island and his love of wood grew. He has since developed his craft further, with replicas of fishing boats - complete with rigging, supplies and creature comforts - becoming part of his creative artisans' repertoire, all crafted with locally sourced materials such as red and yellow cedar, aromatic cedar and Douglas fir.
Seeley finds himself particularly enthralled with grandeur of eagles. He captures the strength and beauty of these birds of prey in his life-sized, three-dimensional carvings. Each feather is individually hand crafted and placed on the eagle one by one, to give the appearance of the wind working the feathers and the wings. View his work online at wesseeley.com.
