This is the second of two utility knives from Irwin that
we've had a chance to try (for a review of the Irwin Pro Touch
knife
This knife has the same high standard of quality that we've seen
in other Irwin products. The knife measures 3 5/8" long, 1/2"
thick (minus the the belt clip). and 1 5/8" at its widest. When
fully open the knife measures 6" long (including blade).
The body is made of stainless steel which means that its
virtually indestructible and will last eons. You can easily open
the knife one-handed by pushing your thumb against the thumb
ledge on the knife arm. Once open, the arm is locked in place.
In the open position the knife is very comfortable to hold and
use. Putting your thumb on the back of the knife arm you can
apply a lot of downward cutting pressure.
To close the blade press on the lock release and fold the arm
down. You safely can do this one-handed by pressing the lock
release against the base of your thumb and using your forefinger
to close the arm.
To release the blade you press the lock release and move the arm
down into a 45° position, and then press
the blade removal button on the arm. The blade slides in and out
smoothly.
There is a handy belt clip on the knife that holds the unit
securely on belt on pocket, and a place on the end of the handle
to secure a lanyard. As well there is also a wire stripper
notch on the bottom of the arm.
And like all other Irwin knives, this one uses the Irwin Blue
Blade - in our view, the best blade on the market.
This is a great little knife that is just as handy in the shop,
on a job site, in the home, or at the cottage. |
