Irwin Quick Adjusting Wrench

I vaguely remember the only set of open-ended wrenches I bought some two decades ago. There were dozens of wrenches in the set, and I toted it around for quite a few years, until I bought my first adjustable wrench. Needless to say I got rid of the open ended wrench set pretty soon after that. One tool handles just about the same range of nut sizes as the wrench set.

Unless you do a whole lot of mechanical work, I think that an adjustable wrench will handle 99% of your nut and bolt manipulation needs.

The Irwin Quick Adjusting Wrench, which is part of the Vise-Grip family of pliers and wrenches, is a unique adjustable wrench, in that it employs a sliding lever (manipulated by a thumb catch) rather than the conventional spiraling thumb wheels. This makes adjustments very quick.

The Quick Adjusting Wrench features Irwin's ProTouch grip (a padded grip that makes extended use of the tool less fatiguing and more comfortable); parallel jaws with smooth surfaces, so that you're less likely to mar the heads of bolts and nuts (particularly if they are brass); a sliding lever that enables you to set the desired width quickly; an etched scale on the jaw head; a hanging hole on the end of the wrench; and a lifetime warranty.

Snug up the jaws on a bolt, engage the sliding lever to lock the jaws, and then apply all the torque you're worth - the jaws won't budge. A flick of the sliding level with our thumb opens the lock and you can easily re-adjust the jaw opening. Isn't it great when tools work the way you want them to!

The Quick Adjusting Wrench is available in both metric and SAE (fractional) formats. Sizes range from 6" overall length, with a 22mm (7/8") jaw capacity, to 12" length with a 35mm (1 1/2") jaw capacity.

Great product for shop, job site, home or car.
