Steel City Tool Works adds new 10” Riving Knife Cabinet
Saws with Granite table tops (Models 35900G, 35905G, 35910G,
35915G) to its impressive line of woodworking machinery.
Granite table tops machine perfectly flat, will not warp or
change, are not affected by heat, cold or humidity and will not
rust like traditional cast iron table tops. The heavy duty stone
top helps absorb vibration making the cut smooth and blade
alignment accurate. It is also virtually maintenance free.
A Riving Knife is standard equipment on this saw. The entire
assembly travels vertically on ways and includes a quick-change
guard. It is the heaviest and most accurate trunnion system
available in the “hybrid” class of table saws!
The saw comes equipped with: 1.75 HP or 3 HP, single phase, 230V
dual capacitor, TEFC motor with magnetic paddle-type switch, 30”
or 50” Industrial T-Square Type Fence System with legs, splitter
with guard and two riving knife blades, one 12” granite
extension wing (the basic table is 12” wider than standard
tables), table board, standard insert, miter gauge, 4” dust
port, motor cover, and user instruction manual. Along with their
standard 5 year warranty there is a special 10 year warranty on
granite components. |

Ryobi's
new 18V One+ Lithium Ion battery system delivers twice the
runtime, four times the storage capacity and is twenty percent
lighter than its non lithium products.
There are six components to the system:
- 18V battery
- 1 hour (or less) charger
- Drill/driver (with 1/2" chuck, 24 position
clutch, 3.1 lb weight, two speed gearbox with 0-440
rpm and 0-1,800 rpm)
- 5 1/2" circular saw (4,200 rpm, 1 9/16" depth of

Black &
Decker's has announced its own interchangeable
lithium-ion battery system, the 7.2V VPX.
The VPX system is comprised of a 7.2V lithium ion battery and a
single battery or dual battery charger. These batteries are half
the size and 60% lighter than NiCad batteries, and hold their
charge for much longer. The chargers can be daisy chained
together, and feature automatic shut off with auto periodic top
up charging.
The VPX Starter Set consists of:
- 7.2V battery
- Charger
- Screwdriver (two speed: 195/625 rpm)
- Cutsaw (1/2" stroke, 1,950 spm
- Flashlight (3 LED bulb, 5 hour runtime)

The screwdriver and cutsaw can also be purchased separately,
with battery and charger. Also available is a 14.4V drill/driver
(which uses two7.2V VPX batteries), and comes with a charger.
The drill offers 2 speeds (0-350 and 1-1,200 rpm) and has a 24
position clutch.
You can expand the VPX system by purchasing several other tools
without a batter and charger. These include a 7.2V drill/driver,
flashlight, inflator, hand vacuum, and a nifty AC/USB power
supply.
The Power Pod outputs 115 volts and can be used to charge your
MP3 player, cell phone, digital camera, in fact, any small
110/115V device. You don't need an adapter, just plug your
device into the Power Pod. The pod recharges in just over an
hour.
The VPX system will be available sometime in November 2007 at
Home Depot stores. |

topcoat that restores shine and provides a layer of protection
to any unwaxed, polyurethane-finished floor. It's meant to

Polyshades combines rich stain colour and durable polyurethane
protection in one easy step that can be applied even over an
existing finish. There’s no need to sand or strip the wood. Just
clean the old finish of any dirt and wax, scuff the old finish
lightly with steel wool or sandpaper and begin applying.

The CMT 333
Universal Hinge Boring System ($349US) is designed to be used
with stationary drill presses or hand held drills. The system
features a universal modular base that accepts different boring
heads from the most common European hinge brands such as Blum,
Grass Mepla, Hettich, Salice and Wurth. The system includes the
universal modular base, a Blum boring head, one 35mm boring bit
and two 8mm left hand boring bits. The universal modular base
and brand specific boring heads can be purchased separately.
The CMT line of Industrial Glue Line Rip Saw Blades in 8”
through 14” diameters is designed to produce flawless glue line
rip cuts in hard woods and soft woods. The blades feature a
triple chip grind, 12° hook angle, heavy duty industrial plate,
and thick micro grain carbide teeth.
The new CMT Entry and Passage Door Set (# 800.527.11, $299US)
offers production quality and versatility of function lacking in
existing DIY entry door sets. To produce an entry or passage
door in either of the two common thicknesses (1-3/8” and 1-3/4”
), one cutter is used to cut the long grain profile on all of
the parts. As with cabinet doors, a second cutter is used to
cope the ends of the rails to match the long grain cut. Because
entry and passage doors demand a large tenon for a lifetime of
strength, CMT includes a third bit in the set that is
specifically designed for cutting tenons. No other door kit
includes such a bit! 3 HP routers can cut the tenon in hardwood
in two passes. 2-1/4” HP routers can make the tenon cut in three
passes. To cut the mortise in the door stiles, a bench top
mortiser, drill press or a plunge router with the CMT
#191.507.11 up cut solid carbide spiral bit can be utilized. |

The
Bridge City Tool Works CT-14 shoulder plane ($814.95; $714 for members) is machined and polished from solid brass.
The .250″ thick, A2 tool steel iron (Rc 60- 62) is bedded bevel
up at 15° for an inclusive attack angle of 42°.
The working width of the iron is approximately 1.125″, and is
.008″ –.010″ wider than the body, allowing you to make flawless
corners. One full revolution of the depth adjustor wheel
increases/decreases shaving thickness by .008″, allowing for
easy and minute shaving adjustments (.0005″–.001″).

The new
ProSite CP505A-12 Combination Protractor
(est. $90) provides fast,
direct readings for miter cuts, single cuts, compound cuts (with
conversions for cutting crown molding), exact angle/supplemental
angles and roof pitch references.
It eliminates mathematical calculations, guesswork and material
waste, while saving time and providing reliable, accurate
results. The 5-In-1 is easy to use. For mitering or making
single cuts for butt joints, the user simply adjusts the tool
legs to the work surfaces, reads the angle on the dial face,
sets the miter saw to the reading and makes an accurate,
professional miter cut - all in a fraction of the usual time.
The tool features a handy compound cut conversion table for
cutting crown molding as it lays flat in a compound miter saw.
For simultaneously determining angle readings and supplemental
angles, the 5-In-1 has a protractor on the reverse side with
0°-180°-0° and 180°-0°-180° degree scales. In addition, quick
references to common roof pitches can be determined by simply
aligning the tool leg to the angle lines on the roof pitch
scale.
The tool is constructed of precision-machined, rugged, ¼”
lightweight aluminum, and the 12” scissor-action legs are
optimally tensioned and feature a Teflon “O” ring for smooth,
precise operation. |

Hingemark
jig.
