We're quickly closing in on fall weather, and for many woodworkers it's synonymous with 'wood show season'.

Between now and the end of 2007 there are a bakers dozen of wood shows across Canada. If you want to find the show that's closest to where you live, click here.

Wood shows are not only good places to find out about the newest products on the market, but you can generally get great deals as well.

Can't get to a wood show? Then you might want to harvest some of the great savings that can be had at the House of Tools fall festival.

No doubt you've heard about the mighty loonies meteoric rise over the past few weeks. Our friends at Busy Bee Tools are the first on the woodworking block to balance the dollar rise with a corresponding dollar drop in consumer prices. Thanks Hanif.

Now, as Ed would have said, "On with the Shew!"

Busy Bee Tools Announces Price Reductions

Busy Bee Tools, a national retailer of woodworking and metalworking tools, are dropping their prices in response to the rising Canadian dollar.

Until the end of 2007, Busy Bee Tools will take an additional 5% off the lowest ticketed price on any item in-store or online (power tools and power tool accessories excluded). In 2008, Busy Bee Tools plans further price reductions.

As Busy Bee Tools is a direct importer, the increased value of the Canadian dollar has been a bright spot over the past 6 months. In order to help share some of these benefits with their customers, they are taking the first step in giving back to the Canadian consumer.

As an example of the pricing reductions the Craftex CT103N 18” band saw can now be had for $849.

Joseph Hemingway, West Yorkshire, UK

Joseph is a master carver/furniture maker from Huddersfield, West Yorkshire (for those of you from Western Canada that's just a stones throw from St. John's, Nfld).

A student of the Chippendale rococo stile, Joseph owns Thomas Chippendale Furniture Ltd. Sadly, the company was destroyed in a fire early in 2007. Undeterred, Joseph continues to produce outstanding work, as evidenced in the accompanying photo.
