Steel City 16" and 20" Spiral Insert Cutterhead Planers
Click here to find a dealer, or call 877-728-6651	The newly designed 16" (model 40260H) and 20" (40280H) spiral insert cutterhead planers from Steel City Tool Works feature 4-sided carbide inserts that can be rotated to renew the cutting edge. This design reduces tear out, chatter, noise and expense compared to traditional carbide tipped straight knives. According to Scott Box, “If an insert is nicked by a foreign material in the work, it is simply rotated to renew the cutting surface. If a steel or carbide tipped knife is nicked, it must be shifted, re-sharpened or replaced, depending on the damage.” The 16" Planer has a 3 HP, 230V, 1ph TEFC motor and the 20" model has a 5 HP, 230V, 1ph TEFC motor. Both feature a magnetic starter, triple v-drive belt system that transmits optimal power to the cutterhead, steel serrated in-feed rollers and polyurethane out-feed rollers, anti-kickback fingers, extra rigid 4-column lead screws, 2-speed gearbox (16 and 30 FPM), cast iron in-feed and out-feed tables with cams to adjust bed rollers, built in mobile base, hinged dust hood for quick access blade changes, 4-inch dust port and a users manual. King Carbide Saw Blade Line
