Beauti-Tone Transformation 2018

Transform your home from ordinary to extraordinary with Beauti-Tone
Create a fabulous focal point for very little cost, effort, and time!

Burford, ON (2018) – It is surprisingly easy to transform a room from ‘just alright’ to ‘WOW, that’s amazing’. All you need is a wall, some paint and a desire to do the incredible. Beauti-Tone, a division of Home Hardware Stores Limited, has created four stunning graphic transformations that you can easily do yourself for very little money, but will make your home look like a million bucks.

“Paint techniques are a wonderful, cost effective way to create a beautiful focal point,” says Bev Bell, Creative Director, Beauti-Tone Paint and Home Products Division, Home Hardware Stores Limited. “Whether your personal style leans to traditional or contemporary, conservative or striking, you can literally change the entire look of a room with the stroke of a brush.”

Band Aid
Create this stunning accent wall by painting bands of rich, warm and relaxing colours, or choose a monochromatic palette for a more sophisticated look with less drama. Soften the look by blurring a few lines, turning a plain wall into art.

  • Paint every other band a desired colour using the chalk lines as a guide. Let dry.
  • Paint the remaining bands in desired colours, creating an entire wall in colour bands. Let dry.
  • To soften edges, brush a line along the bottom of the band using the same colour, and mist with water. Control the runs with the dry cloth.

  • hobby knife
  • Beauti-Tone paint. Colours shown: Base Coat: Steeling the Show SC149-0 Top Coat: Dress to Impress SC150-3

  • nitrile gloves

Here's How
  1. Paint wall the base coat colour. Let dry 48 hours.
  2. Measure and mark a square grid on the wall with a chalk line. Squares can be any size you want. The squares shown are two feet.
  3. Tape the outside edges of every alternate square, cutting the tape with a hobby knife for a clean edge.
  4. Use a measuring cup to mix 4 parts topcoat paint to 1 cup extender into a pail. Repeat the formula when more topcoat mixture is needed.
  5. Wearing gloves, unwrap one roll of steel wool and wrap it around a 9.5” roller.
  6. VERTICAL LINES: Paint one masked square with a thin coat of topcoat mixture. Immediately drag the roller wrapped with steel wool vertically in the painted square. Try to drag straight down, and repeat dragging in the square until you achieve your desired effect.
  7. Repeat on each masked square, painting one at a time, using a new roll of steel wool for each square.
  8. Remove tape and let dry 48 hours.
  9. Tape off the remaining squares on the outside. (i.e., tape will be on the finished squares).
  10. HORIZONTAL LINES: Paint the remaining squares one at a time, dragging the roller wrapped with steel wool horizontally each time. Try to drag straight across, and repeat dragging in the square until you achieve your desired effect.
  11. Remove tape.

Beauti-Tone’s Colour of the Year – 2018
Just a reminder, Beauti-Tone’s 2018 colour-of-the-year is the very soul nurturing, energy fortifying Green Peace, from the Simon Chang, Model Home ‘Trend Colour Collection’. A colour strongly rooted in nature, Green Peace is an interesting blend of an earthy camouflage green and a soft botanical green. Could this be THE new neutral? Green Peace is an intriguing colour that can be a grounding and elegant neutral or it can make a confident statement. Like nature, it is perfect harmony.
