Woodworkers' Gallery: Woodworkers draw inspiration from many different places while designing a piece of furniture.

Made by Darrell LaRue

“The mess in the living room was my inspiration. The piles of videos, tapes and games were everywhere,” says Darrell LaRue, of Oakville, Ont. “You couldn’t put anything down without causing an avalanche of media.” With that in mind, he set out to build this pine cabinet with linenfold door panels to house DVDs and games.

According to LaRue, the most difficult part of the project was a seemingly common task – hanging the hand-carved doors. “After all that work, I was afraid I would botch the hinge installation and ruin it.”
