Subscription Draw Rules

Six times a year Canadian Woodworking Magazine holds a subscription draw. When you subscribe to our magazine, give it as a gift, or renew your subscription, you'll be eligible for the draw. Non-subscribers may also enter the draw. Full details are provided below.

Administration
This subscription draw is administered by Sawdust Media. Inc. (the "Draw Sponsor"), publishers of Canadian Woodworking Magazine.
 
All decisions of the Draw Sponsor are final and binding in all matters as they relate to this Draw.
 
The Draw Sponsors reserve the right to change any of the terms of the draw or to terminate the draw in their sole discretion.
 
Eligibility
Subscription draw is open to Canadian residents who are 18 years or older.
 
This subscription draw is void where prohibited or restricted by law.
 
Employees of Sawdust Media Inc., its partners and affiliates, its advertising, promotion and production agencies, and members of their immediate families are not eligible.
 
No purchase is necessary.
 
To Enter
There are three ways to enter this draw:
 
1. Complete the postage paid subscription order card ("Subscribe & Win", "Give a Gift & Win") included in each issue of Canadian Woodworking Magazine, and send it to us by mail; or,
 
2. Subscribe, give a gift subscription, or renew your subscription online or by telephone (1-800-204-1773). You will be automatically entered into the draw.
 
3. To enter without making a purchase, simply write a 100-word essay about what you like about woodworking and send it, along with your name, address, postal code, and phone number, to:

Essays must be original and cannot be mechanically reproduced.
 
Prizes
The approximate value of each prize is $250 CDN, plus free shipping and handling. The prize must be accepted as awarded, is non-transferable, is not convertible to cash, and no substitutions will be made.
 
One prize will be awarded for each and every draw period.
 
Prizes will be distributed within 4 to 6 weeks of each draw.
 
Prize Draw Periods
There are 6 prizes awarded each calendar year. Draw periods are as follows:
 
December 1 to January 31
February 1 to March 31
April 1 to May 31
June 1 to July 31
August 1 to September 30
October 1 – to November 30
 
Chances of winning
Your chances of winning depend on the number of eligible purchases made and the number of no purchase`` entries received, within the draw period.
 
Rules
One entry per subscription.
 
You may enter one 'no purchase' entry per draw period.
 
One name will be randomly drawn from the subscriptions/entries that were received within each draw period.
 
Draws are made on the first business day after each draw period.
 
All prizes are guaranteed to be awarded upon receipt of a signed Declaration and Release form and the correct completion of a skill testing question.
 
All essays become the property of Sawdust Media Inc., and shall not be returned. Sawdust Media Inc. is not responsible for entries lost, late, misdirected, containing inaccurate information or delayed for any reason.
 
In order to win, the selected entrant must first correctly answer, unaided, a time-limited mathematical skill-testing question. The selected entrant will also be required to sign a standard declaration and release form confirming compliance with the draw rules, agreeing to accept the prize as awarded, and releasing the Draw Sponsors and prize suppliers from all liability.
 
By entering the subscription draw and/or accepting the prize, entrants consent to the use of their name, voice and/or photograph in any publicity or advertisement carried out by Sawdust Media Inc. without further compensation.
 
Entries obtained through fraudulent means or through an abuse of the subscription process or in any way tampered with, forged, mutilated, illegible, incomplete, or mechanically reproduced,  may, at the sole discretion of Sawdust Media Inc., be disqualified.
 
Winners are solely responsible for all taxes and fees associated with prize receipt and/or use.
 
All decisions of the judge(s) are final.
 
Selection/Notification
A random draw will be made for each subscription draw period at Canadian Woodworking's Circulation office in Dartmouth, NS. A representative from Sawdust Media Inc. will notify the selected entrant by phone within 3 days of the draw date.
 
The winner must accept the prize by phone or email no later than 10 days after notification. In the event that the winner cannot be reached for a period of time exceeding 10 days, an alternate winner will be selected from the pool of eligible entries.
 
Announcement of Winners
Winners will be announced in the pages of Canadian Woodworking Magazine in the first issue published after the prize is awarded.
 
Liability
Submission of an entry constitutes full and unconditional acceptance of these Subscription Contest Rules as the terms and conditions governing this Draw.
 
Subject to all applicable Canadian federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations, these Draw Rules govern all aspects of the Draw and are binding on all participants.
 
The winner agrees to release Sawdust Media Inc., its employees and sponsors, as well as its agents, suppliers, affiliated agencies, co-sponsors, subsidiaries and/or promotional partners of all responsibilities in the eventuality of any accident, injury, loss or any other problem and casualty in relation to the prizes in this draw and from any liability claims or actions of any kind.
 
Sawdust Media Inc. make no express or implied warranties of any kind with respect to safety, appearance or performance of any prize or prize activity offered.
 
General Conditions
Sawdust Media Inc. in its sole discretion, reserves the right to cancel or suspend this Subscription Draw for any reason, without notice. Decisions are final in all matters relating to the Draw.
 
If for any reason in the opinion of the Draw Sponsor, in its sole discretion, the Draw is not capable of running as planned, the Draw Sponsor reserves the right to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Draw including cancelling any method of entry, and selecting a winner from previously received eligible entries.
 
The Draw Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual they find to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Draw or to be acting in violation of these Draw Rules or otherwise in a disruptive manner.
 
The Draw Sponsor reserves the right to modify the Draw Rules without materially affecting the terms and conditions of the Draw.
 
Privacy
All information that you provide will not be used for any purpose other than the administration of subscriptions and this Subscription Draw.
 
By entering this draw, each entrant consents to the collection, use and distribution of his/her personal information (information that identifies an entrant as an individual, such as home telephone number, age, and home address) by Sawdust Media Inc. for the purposes of implementing, administering and fulfilling this draw.
