TASK Impact Magnetic Nut Setters

Although these nut setters (or nut drivers) from Task Tools are specifically designed for use with impact drivers you can, of course, still use them with conventional drill/drivers or ratchet drivers. The set contains five of the most common nut head sizes — 1/4", 5/16", 3/8", 7/16", and 1/2".

Recessed corners and integrated magnets

The setters are forged from proprietary S2 steel, which is harder than the more commonly used 8650 grade of steel. S2 steel been heat treated and hardened to make it less brittle, while still retaining it's superior strength. The result is a very durable setter that can withstand the higher levels of torque generated by impact drivers.

The setters are 2-9/16" long, and have 1/4" hex shanks. I found that they fit nut and bolt heads tightly, without slipping, while the integrated magnets provide superior retention power.

You'll notice in the photo above that the setters have recessed corners that distribute torque across the flat edges of the nuts, which helps to reduce stripping on sharp corners.

This is a handy set to have on hand in the shop or in your tool box. They're well made, and the magnets provide good holding power. As with all Task accessories, these come with a no-nonsense lifetime warranty — one of the best in the industry.
