Trend Tool & Bit Cleaner

For optimal performance it's important to keep your cutting tools clean. Saw blades and router bits, in particular, can load up with pitch and gum fairly quickly. You might think that your blade is getting dull, when all it needs is a good cleaning.

There are a number of commercial cleaning products on the market. In my experience most of them work quite well. I like the ones that not only clean the blade, but offer rust protection and lubricate all in one fell swoop. Which is exactly what Trend's Tool & Bit Cleaner does. It comes in an 18 ounce pump action spray bottle, which should be enough for several dozen blades and a score of router bits.

I tried it on some router bits, and my workhorse Gmaxx blade. The Trend Tool & Bit Cleaner worked as well as any other similar product I've tried over the years. One way of using is it to spray the teeth, let the blade sit for five or ten minutes, and then wipe it dry. On really heavy crud you might have to do a bit of scraping. The method I prefer is to put the blade in a shallow plastic tray, pour enough cleaner over it to cover the blade, and let it sit for a bit. I then pour the content back in to the bottle for use future use. I also keep a smaller bottle filled with the cleaner that I use to dunk my router bits into. Works for me.

At around $12 this is good value in an effective cleaner.
