Woodturning Tips & Techniques - Canadian Woodworking Magazine

A good overview of woodturning know-how or anyone new to the craft.

Woodturning Tips & Techniques

Carol Rix is an accomplished woodturner, instructor and writer. This, what I believe to be her first book, is a welcome addition to the woodturning library.
The book is well organized, easy to read, has a lot of practical information, and is filled with inspiring photos.
The author begins with an overview of the equipment you need to get started in turning, and follows up with a companion section on the turning tools. You'll find lots of tips and techniques on using turning tools here, along with advice on sanding and finishing. Novice turners or those thinking about taking up turning as a hobby, will find this part of the book extremely helpful.
The last part of the book, which will be pf particular interest to more experienced turners, deals with advanced woodturning techniques, including carving, piercing, deep hollowing, off-center turning, nested work, cut shapes and jigs.
An excellent book that belongs on the bookshelf of all turners.
